Nobilis collaborates with up-and-coming French designer Léa Zeroil
When fabric companies diversify into furniture design, the results are created specifically to show off the beauty of the textiles that clothe them. So it is with Nobilis’ latest collection, a collaboration with Léa Zeroil, an up-and-coming name in French design. Taking shapes and silhouettes as her starting point, the collection of sofas, armchairs, daybeds and poufs is enhanced by Nobilis’ vast collection of fabrics, demonstrating their versatility.
Plinth bases and all-over upholstery are hallmarks of the collection: the ‘Montana’ slipper chair (above left) features curved upholstered legs;, the ‘Fire’ chair (above centre) was inspired by 1970s design and can be used in multiples to create a longer bench/sofa; and the ‘Vallon’ daybed (above right) has a fat, fluted design.
Gentle curves are another recurring feature, with a few exceptions, such as the ‘Factory’ sofa (pictured below) with its triangular feet and complementary bolsters, shaped like a elongated slice of cake; as demonstrated in the image, using a range of fabrics can emphasise the different components of its structure.
A series of stools complete the collection (pictured top), including the theatrical ‘Circus’; ‘Alton’, with its top-heavy indented seat; and ‘Luck’, which contrasts an upholstered top with a glossy lacquered base.
