SheerLuxe’s set design by Henry Prideaux was made for convivial conversation
Interior designer Henry Prideaux has completed a project that started life at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour a year ago, when fashion and lifestyle online platform SheerLuxe spotted Prideaux’s work at WOW!house in 2023. His pink Martin Moore kitchen – complete with disco ball – was so memorable that “when we talked about doing the set, he was the first person that came to mind. And he said yes!” says SheerLuxe’s senior homes and interiors editor, Georgina Blaskey.
With the theme of ‘laidback luxe’, the set is full of products sourced from the Design Centre’s showrooms. The space and brief were a challenge: filming takes place in a low-ceilinged basement, with tight camera angles, and the scheme could not compete too much with the hosts’ or guests’ clothing. “We wanted to create a space that didn’t detract from the fashion but would stand out in a graceful way,” says Henry Prideaux. He has created two sets, both of which allow for convivial conversation: an intimate space with two armchairs; and a larger area for larger group discussions, with a long curving sofa sat next to an armchair for the host.
In the larger space, the centrepiece is one of Prideaux’s own-design ‘Rondel’ rugs from Jennifer Manners Design. Panelled walls behind the sofa are papered with Lincrusta’s ‘Tropical leaf; wallcovering, painted in two-tone neutrals. Tactile Samuel & Sons’ trimmings adorn the cushions. The smaller space features ‘Bargello’ fabric from Nobilis on the all-over-upholstered armchairs – a timeless pattern brought up to date thanks to the chairs’ curvy contemporary outline – with the pale pink curtain behind in George Spencer Designs’ ‘Strie’.
