Italian ceramics brand Ginori 1735 is know for exuberant patterned porcelain that perfectly expresses la dolce vita. Its pieces have been gracing the finest tables since the 18th century, but it is also constantly evolving, thanks to collaborations with some of the world’s best designers. It has now stepped outside of porcelain to create a wider home collection, Domus, that is rooted in its original patterns but is applied to other materials, too.
As part of this, Ginori 1735 has partnered with Rubelli to create four new textiles that take its distinctive design language into a new direction. Rubelli has perfectly captured the brand’s vibrancy, while its own exceptional know-how has created fabrics that have a depth and aesthetic all of their own. ‘Oriente Italiano’ (above left) is a cotton and viscose jacquard whose weave is intended to echo the play of light and shade on porcelain, in eye-catching colours including an acid-bright yellow on a deep lapis base; while ‘Ondori’ takes the delicate leaf motif from one of Ginori 1735’s best-loved designs and turns it into a sumptuous jacquard with an all-over pattern of entwined foliage. ‘Sagitta’ references Italian design maestro Gio Pointi’s work for Ginori 1735, while the softly blurred ‘Saia’ (above right) was inspired by ‘Smufato’, a porcelain collection that features bright ombré colour on the lip.
