The secret behind many successful decorating schemes is their use of different textures to create visual contrast – but it’s not generally a feature associated with bathroom products. Kallista’s new Argile collection, available from West One Bathrooms, breaks the mould.
While silky smooth on the inside, the freestanding bath and basin have a raised pattern on their outer surface, capturing the irregular finish of a piece of hand-chiselled wood. “We wanted to create a modern basin and tub that weren’t cold, that felt handmade and handcrafted,” said Matt Berman, founding principal of Workshop/APD, the New York based design studio that created the collection. Cast in fine mineral powder and resin, and with a matt white finish, Argile bridges the gap between minimalism and a soft, organic look.
