An Evergreen Classic
Curated spaces are big news at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour. GP & J Baker has partnered with interior designer Ben Pentreath to create a unique roomset within its showroom. Pentreath has selected the iconic ‘Magnolia’ fabric from the extensive archive as the focus of his design, using it to reflect his own inimitable style. The space includes notable architectural elements, statement lighting, unique accessories and bold colour combinations.
“Magnolia is one of the most beautiful designs, and one which we use a lot in our projects: deep sofas and armchairs in a recent London townhouse, curtains in a tall-ceilinged country house kitchen in Dorset, or my Dad’s study in my parents’ new flat,” says Pentreath. “It’s a fabric that belongs everywhere. It’s rich and happy-making. And what I find most remarkable about it – designed in 1913 – is its extraordinary contemporary quality, with its vivid colours, bold pattern, and beautiful natural shapes. It could have been designed yesterday. This, I suppose, is the definition of a timeless classic.”
