Designer Loves: Hill House Interiors

As part of its First Look initiative, the Design Centre asked top designers to choose their favourite products from spring/summer 21’s collections. See below for Jenny Weiss and Helen Bygraves of Hill House Interiors, while they explain more about their design thinking and colour passions here.

Is there a particular piece out of the products you’ve chosen that you can’t wait to put in a scheme? How do you envision using it?
We absolutely love the Davidson ‘Abstract’ cabinet – it’s a simply beautiful piece and also just so versatile. It would look perfect in an entrance hall, living room, dining room or even a master bedroom.

Did you discover anything on the First Look colour wheel that surprised you?
Although we are beginning to become familiar with Gladee Lighting we don’t know them well so it’s great to see examples of their work here. We can’t wait to visit them in the Harbour soon!

Is there a colour you are consistently drawn to in your work and why?
Other than neutral tones, we have always been drawn to blues in our schemes. There is so much variety in this colour palette – light blues, denims, stormy tones – all evoking something utterly unique. We also love, for example, a combination of blues with ochres to create something a little different. We will continue to embrace blues this year as they can both add a bit of drama or offer a calming effect on an interior scheme.
