Versatile Style

From strong, simple geometrics to replica marbles, Artisans of Devizes demonstrates the sheer breadth of its work with its new collections. ‘Brasserie Mosaic’ (above left, on wall) stands out for its sustainability credentials: made almost entirely from recycled glass, these mid-size mosaics have a suede-like matt finish, making them suitable for floors as well as walls, and a colour range that’s highly versatile. Opt for mustard or sand for an architectural, modernist-inspired look or brighter pink and turquoise for a more playful aesthetic.

A new ceramic tile, ‘Abstract’ (above centre) demonstrates equal adaptability. Its unusual L-shape means it can make a myriad of patterns – creating zig-zags, T-shapes or cross-shapes – which become even more defined when one or more colours are combined. Like ‘Brasserie Mosaic’ it has a matt finish, and it’s suitable for domestic or commercial use on walls and floors, inside and out.

While Artisans of Devizes is well-known for its real stone products, its replica marbles are also turning heads. ‘Haute Marbre’ (above right) is a large-format porcelain tile that emulates rare types of marble; porcelain is thinner and lighter than stone and therefore quicker and easier to install, but digital printing techniques are now so advanced that the detail is incredible, and rarely is the veining pattern the same between tiles.

Showroom manager Christopher Elliott introduced the new collections in the showroom as part of Focus/20’s virtual programme. He said that most people’s difficulty in specifying the right product is too much choice, “but as experts in the field, we do our best to guide clients through it. Tell us what you really like – whether a colour, shape or design – and once we have that info it makes it easier for us to find products that will fit the aesthetic and the practical side, and will really work.”
