Meet the Showroom: Eccotrading Design London
Founded by Patrick Gill and now with a new showroom in Design Centre East, Eccotrading Design London creates furniture, lighting and accessories that are designed in-house and manufactured using only trusted factories. Here, showroom manager Camelia Petcu gives a rundown of what to expect – from strong silhouettes to tactile leather finishes and an ever-changing selection of art.
What brought Eccotrading Design London to Design, Centre, Chelsea Harbour?
When the opportunity came up for a showroom in a great location we jumped at it! To showcase the very best of our designs, to be at the heart of a vibrant design community, and the chance for our clients to see us more frequently made the decision an easy choice.
What should we expect from the showroom?
We will be showcasing designs from across our collections so that visitors will be able to see how easily they may be combined to create stunning interiors. There will also be a constantly changing selection of original artwork and sculpture, so no two visits will be the same.
Why should customers visit in person as opposed to looking/buying online?
Everything can be made to look beautiful online – so it is even more important to be able to touch and see things in reality. It also gives people the chance to discuss bespoke items, or even just minor tweaks to a design, to make it perfect for the intended space.
What’s Eccotrading Design London’s design philosophy?
Designing in-house and answering only to ourselves has enabled us to bring fresh ideas and collections to the market throughout the year. Many of our designs are just to the left or right of centre, and our longstanding clients love the ability to be able to find exclusive and original designs to add pizzazz to their schemes.
What can we expect from the latest collections?
We will be introducing a lot more leather and bronze to the collections, from lighting to accessories and furniture. We have noticed a gap that requires designs that offer clear, strong silhouettes, and we are busy fulfilling that demand.
What craftsmanship and innovation goes into Eccotrading Design London’s products?
We work across the globe. Whether it’s with our bronze foundry, tanning leathers to our own colour palette or artists working out of their studios, we have many people collaborating together, combining their skills in the creation of unique pieces. We are also slowly building a “Made in Britain” collection, sourcing from small producers, to offer a further angle to our offering.
Is there anything else you’d like the Design Centre community to know about your brand?
Although new to the Design Centre we have more than 17 years’ of experience working with the trade. We’d love to invite new and old clients alike to stop by and say hello, as we are so excited by the next part of our journey!
