From Wall to Table

Lincrusta, known for its highly textured embossed wallcoverings, has lent one of its best-known patterns to a tabletop collection for French porcelain company Raynaud. ‘Italian Renaissance’ bears an opulent design of stylised leaves and pomegranates inspired by the flourishing of the arts between the 14th and 16th centuries: scaled down from the boldly proportioned original, the pattern now adorns everything from plates and cups to trinket trays and cake stands.

The delicacy and detail of the original wasn’t easy to replicate in Limoges porcelain, and was painstakingly sculpted in plaster to echo the pattern. A white version of the collection echoes the appearance of an unpainted Lincrusta product, but – just as with the wallcovering – additional colour brings enhanced depth and decadence:, with pieces available in a number of iridescent shades including the pink and dark grey pictured, as well as gold and platinum.
