RIVIERA CHIC

Classic style and nautical nuances make for plain sailing this summer.  For SuperyachtDesign Week 2016, a specially commissioned installation takes on a sophisticated demeanor, seamlessly blending an opulent life on the water with pared-down European elegance.

The Riviera has long been the ultimate luxury yacht destination where the climate is warm, the coastline stunning and the yachts excel. In the late 18th century, the Côte d’Azur was frequented by stylish cultural tastemakers, from novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald to artist Pablo Picasso. From the 1920s, the smart set began to flock to Nice, Marseilles and Cannes, as well as Portofino and San Remo. Today, it still conjures up images of irresistible allure.

This scheme has been devised to showcase chic designs sourced at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour. On both the upper and lower decks, it has been fitted out with cosmopolitan fabrics, wallcoverings, trimmings, leather, outdoor furniture, carpet and lighting that tap into today’s tastes for refined yet relaxed comfort. At its core is a classic palette of neutrals like white, stone and ecru, all of which look their best in sunny weather, reflecting rather than absorbing light. Accents of ship-shape navy, crisp matelot stripes as well as more contemporary geometric patterns add contrast and interest. Natural materials and unusual textures strike the perfect balance of understated luxury.

Whether you are channeling this classic Riviera aesthetic, finding flourishes for a larger vessel or design solutions for living aboard, sourcing high performance products at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour is simply unbeatable. What you see in the showrooms, inspiring as it is, is just the start of much longer voyage. The destination? The most beautiful superyachts of tomorrow.
