Design Centre Stories

On the Ascent

Taking cues from the free-spirited approach to colour and creativity that is in the ascent, Focus/18’s aerial installation, conceived by Arabella McNie, has a decidedly positive mood. Called Freedom of Creativity, its centrepiece is a bird with exotic plumage, surrounded by fluttering butterflies, each one fashioned in joyous palettes and exuberant colour combinations. Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour continues to evolve and develop, championing the design world with its confident vision, so it’s a fitting use of the butterfly, a symbol of metamorphosis.

The bird and birdcage are made using products from Création Baumann, Arte, Casamance at Colony, Edelman Leather, James Hare at Marvic Textiles, Zoffany at Style Library, and Samuel & Sons. The butterflies feature products from Arte, Casamance at Colony, Cole & Son and Dedar.
