Cultural Riches

Larsen-spring-2016

The architecture of Tiébélé is once seen, never forgotten: the houses of this small village in Burkina Faso are adorned on every external surface with beautiful geometric patterns in black, white and terracotta-red, all the handiwork of the women who live there. Larsen’s latest collections take this rich cultural heritage as a starting point, with natural fabrics featuring structured graphic motifs in monochrome, complemented by more ‘refined’ materials with the same motifs. The idea, says artistic director Ariane Dalle, is that “modernity and exquisiteness, gloss and matt merge into a visual and aesthetic balance”. Pictured: curtain in ‘Warner’ black (L9047-01), chair in ‘Myles’ black (L9077-02) and cushion in ‘Parker’ graphite (L9080-05). Available from Colefax and Fowler.
