While strict geometric repeats have ruled interiors recently, now, it seems, it’s time for something a little more… broken. Jaunty, irregular angles – like a paper cut-out by Matisse – inspire fabrics and wallcoverings such as Lelievre’s ‘Tchin’ fabric (pictured top, hanging on left), which features an abstract decoupage motif, and Casamance’s ‘Fantasque’ (pictured centre), from Colony, which delivers the fragmented look on a similarly large scale. The trend translates to furniture, too – see Christopher Guy’s monumental ‘Ensemble’ cluster of tables (pictured bottom).
