Change of Character
Porada’s ‘Alan’ table demonstrates how a single piece of furniture can retain its essential design DNA, yet change its character according to its shape and materials. The table is new for 2020 and was introduced in the London showroom by Chiara Prestigiacomo and Alberto Battaglia as part of Focus/20’s virtual programme – the first time that Porada’s collection has had its global launch outside of Milan.
Its back-to back crescent-shaped walnut legs feature across both a circular and linear version, with tops available in glass, wood, marble or stone. It’s pictured (top) with a lozenge-shaped top in a newly introduced finish, a grey carnico marble that’s a mere 20mm thick. “The thickness of the marble has been reduced to make it less heavy, and make sure we can have a top which is more light and modern in terms of design,” said Battaglia at the launch.
This modular approach fits in with Porada’s ethos to make furniture that can fit in with any interior with ease. “For us, the 2020 collection has reached a kind of maturity,” said Prestigiacomo. “It can be used in any home without being invasive. Our aim is to keep growing that kind of warm, relaxed and reassuring feeling.”
