A Landmark Project
SA Baxter Design Studio & Foundry and Taylor Howes have collaborated on the Churchill collection – a suite of hardware with a unique slice of history as its source of inspiration. Located in the heart of Whitehall, the Old War Office is a grade-II* listed Edwardian building where Winston Churchill and many other luminaries once plotted, now being transformed in to a hotel and apartments.
Assigned to work on the project’s interior architecture, Taylor Howes developed the handles to mark this opulent new chapter in the building’s history. They are Edwardian in style, with two grooves around their perimeter representing two world wars, and a raised scalloped surface in polished brass that was inspired by the pattern of the mosaic floors in the building’s long corridors.
