Leading the Charge

Andersen EV Designer of Tomorrow competition at London Design Week 2024

Explore future living at London Design Week 2024 with Andersen, whose electric vehicle charging points grace the most design-savvy homes. Through its Designer of Tomorrow competition, students from the University of Creative Arts (UCA) were invited to come up with new design concepts that deliver societal and environmental benefits, from clear air to renewable energy – and that could be mounted on one of Andersen’s A2 home chargers.

The ten best entries are on show in the Design Avenue during London Design Week 2024. Entries include (pictured above, left to right), ‘Cusomisable Green Tiles’ by Chananchida Promma, which integrates vessels for plant pots, turning the charger into a living wall;  ‘Euryphaessa’, by Chananchida Promma, Thomas Ford and Maxel Hutama, which features a glass-fronted terrarium filled with plants such as sphagnum moss, spider plants and ivy – with the glass itself a biomaterial created from mussel shells; and ‘Topo-card’ by the same designers, a topographical design made from waste cardboard combined with bio-resin, before being poured into moulds and shaped using CNC milling.
