Texture that Resonates

Lelièvre Paris is rare for owning and operating its own weaving mill, which is sited in the suburbs of Lyon, the French capital of the textile industry. The city is known for its jacquard – the technique was invented there by Joseph-Marie Jacquard in 1804 – and Lelièvre is proud to continue creating exquisite fabrics using this style of weaving.

Three examples from the new Résonance collection attest to the skill of the mill workers and the sheer diversity of design of jacquard: pictured above, left to right are: ‘Sculpture’, which features an oversized ikat pattern, with the jacquard technique resulting in a tactile finish and a heavy drape, enhanced by subtle metallic thread; ‘Fauve’, which revisits a classic animal print, with a smooth and textured finish enhancing the playful design; and ‘Abstract’, which is made from 100% recycled yarn and features bold and painterly overlapping rectangles.
