Manuel Canovas represents the exuberant side of French design at its most chic, where colour, pattern and artistic detail come together with decades of manufacturing know-how. New collections for 2022 speak of opulence and far-flung destinations, like this ‘Anastasia’ fabric and wallcovering inspired by iconic jewel-encrusted FabergĂ© eggs, in pretty pastels that fit in with the wider design directions seen in the latest spring launches.
The eggs have been meticulously hand-painted, a thread that runs through the rest of the collection, which includes ‘Castellane’, a new fabric depicting colourful clematis and figs on a bright, plain ground, which started life as a gouache painting; while ‘Faustine’ features embroidered ferns based on a watercolour by Manuel Canovas himself, recently rediscovered in the archives.
The new collections will be available at Colefax and Fowler during London Design Week 2022.
