Gaia is a family of two portable lights, the result of a collaboration between Italian outdoor lifestyle brand Ethimo and veteran designer Marc Sadler. A playful, gently leaning table lamp version is made from FSC-certified teak; the hanging version, meanwhile is quite unlike anything else available, with a long, thick cord (attached by a magnet to the shade section) that allows the user to attach it in unconventional ways – wrapped around a tree branch, or hanging from a sun umbrella.
Both come with a Rubelli performance-fabric shade available in several colours, making it suitable for outdoor use. The lamps are chargeable using a USB port, with a battery life of 10 hours, while a simple touch control allows the lamps to be turned on or off, or dimmed to two levels.
