Choi Keeryong
Choi Keeryong is a South Korean glass artist based in Edinburgh. His extensive experience of living and working in both Scotland and South Korea has given him a broader cultural outlook, enabling him to position himself in what he calls ‘in-between’ and to examine both cultures with fresh eyes.
He deliberately chooses to create more bubbles on the cast-glass surface of his work: these bubbles are often regarded as a failure for glass artists, but by applying gold leaf inlay by hand on the bubbles individually, he aims to celebrate the material’s instability and uniqueness.
Choi Keeryong is exhibiting as part of Future Heritage.
