Almost two centuries after his death, the architect John Soane’s work still inspires classic and contemporary designers. What do we have to learn from his creative legacy? At this thought-provoking discussion, Will Gompertz, director of the Soane Museum, Maria Speake, co-founder of Retrouvius, and lighting designer Hector Finch will explore Sir John Soane’s contribution to architecture and interior design and why it remains as critical to the 21st century as the 19th.

Topfloor by Esti and celebrated Japanese artist Hashimoto Naotsugu launch a new Monochrome Stories rug collection based on the artist’s optically mesmerising artworks using the dry-point print technique. The organic shaped rugs are hand-knotted in graduating tones, from very intense black to off-whites and creams in wool and artsilk. Continuing the Japanese theme, Sachiko Pearce will discuss and demonstrate shimputai, the contemporary form of ikebana – with a chance to win an arrangement at the end of the event.
