Kit Kemp, Founder and Creative Director of Firmdale Hotels and Kit Kemp Design Studio, is passionate about creating exciting and unique interiors. Kit is an author, a successful textiles, homewares & fragrance designer and respected champion of British art and craft.

Minnie Kemp is head of design at the Kit Kemp Design Studio, whose eight-year career in hotel design has seen her working on international building projects from the ground up. She is currently working on a new build boutique Firmdale hotel in Tribeca called The Warren, a new build events space/apartment building in Richmond Mews in London, and the transformation of Bloomsbury publishing’s three large townhouse offices in Bedford Square into a hub of creativity. She also writes a style column for Livingetc and a runs a side-venture creating furniture upholstered with hand-embroidered tapestries.

“The Chelsea Harbour is such a hive of inspiration. When starting a new project whether it be commercial or residential we always pop to the harbour to see what’s hot off the press.  I love mixing new products found in all the showrooms at the harbour with found pieces from antique shops and flea markets; that juxtaposition of old and new really adds interest to an interior.  Of course when we heard about the WOW house we wanted to be involved in the fun!  What could be better than having access to all the best showrooms in the UK and creating a space for everyone to enjoy alongside other fabulous designers!” says Minnie Kemp.

The Kemp Design Studio is celebrated for its individual approach to design, with colourful and detailed storytelling which celebrates craft and captures the imagination. Completed projects include award winning new build properties adding immediate character and depth with fine detailing plus project management from start to finish. The Kemps known for the renovation of period buildings in a carefully curated style without becoming a pastiche of the past. We say good interiors should satisfy all the senses with Colour, Comfort, Craft, Character and Curation.
