Rustic Meets Industrial
West One Bathrooms has introduced a new collection of ceramic bathroom pendants by Ireland’s Mullan Lighting, whose muted colour scheme was inspired by the brand’s rural surroundings, from red-brick cottages to flowing rivers. Moulded by hand and individually painted, ‘Kirhii’ features a wavy pie-crust-like shade (above left), while ‘Kingii’ (above right) is dome shaped; a third design, ‘Parva’ is a more vertically defined pendant. Crackled finishes or ombré brushstrokes bring a rustic, organic feel to the shades, contrasting with their more industrial-style fittings. The pendants are made from a mixture of natural and sustainable materials, including recycled brass.
Mullan Lighting started life making specialist lighting products for pubs and churches, but broadened its collections, and its audience, in 2012; Mullan is a small village in Co. Monaghan where the brand continues to make its products.
The pendants are IP65 rated, so they can be used in Zone 1 of the bathroom (that is, anywhere that is not immediately inside the bath or shower).
