Nordic Meets Nepalese

Tufenkian Artisan Carpets’ founder James Tufenkian is a prolific designer, creating several collections a year that are all rooted in craftsmanship and the finest quality materials. One of three collections launched so far in 2020, Norse is the company’s tribute to Scandinavian design’s simplicity, minimalism and functionality, with a particular focus on mid-century modern style. The rugs are made from 100% Tibetan wool, hand knotted in Nepal.

Featuring large areas of flat colour with irregular geometric shapes, the collection includes three designs, ‘Malmo’ (main image, top), ‘Marlowe’ (above left) and ‘Aalto’ (above right). Their abstract appearance, plus a subdued palette of blues, browns, greens and taupes, make them easy to integrate with many decorating styles.
