Design Centre Stories

Telling Tales

While some will always celebrate pared-back minimalism, there’s no doubt that its counterpoint, ‘maximalism’, is on the rise. These joyously layered interiors – where multiple colours, patterns and textures create a feast for the senses – are not just a rebellion against minimalism and a case of ‘what goes around, comes around’. In design, the creation of a narrative and a space that emotionally resonates have become paramount, and it is so much easier to weave a story, express individualism, inject some personality – and, in commercial interiors, shape a brand – when there are more tools to play with.
