Carpet of Contrasts
Stark Carpet has added two collections of flatwoven rugs to its portfolio. Both have a bold, graphic style but a very different approach to colour: while Corsa fizzes with energy from its rainbow of hues, Carbon takes a monochrome approach, finding creative expression in strong mark-making and the contrast between black and white. Pictured above (left to right) are ‘Funfetti’, ‘Bamako’ and ‘Dahlia’.
There are 17 designs in total, all custom-made from 100% wool in India, and featuring simple, subtle texture. And while the collection was developed for a specific market – as a cost-effective product for contract and hospitality projects, where the designer might want to use rugs instead of wall-to-wall carpet – it can work in any space where refreshingly bold design is the requirement.
