Decorate, Cabana Style
Upon its launch in 2014, Cabana became an influential style bible for interiors, peeking behind closed doors at Italian palaces and rustic cottages alike, and breathing new life into traditional style with its passion for colour and pattern. With production values as sumptuous as the interiors contained within it, each issue is a collectors’ item, delivering pronounced proof that print magazines are far from dead.
That wit, opulence and dedication to authenticity has been carried forward into a new collection of fabrics, wallcoverings and trims for Schumacher. Cabana founder Martina Mondadori (above left) was inspired by art, fashion and global travel to create these pieces, which, like the magazine, celebrate a more-is-more approach when it comes to mixing and matching.
‘Sasha DIamond Ikat’ cotton fabric (above left) showcases hand-weaving techniques, while ‘Turnip’ wallcovering (above centre) with its motif of floral bouquets sitting on top of bold stripes, is printed fractionally off-register to give it an authentic vintage look. ‘Saz’ (above right) is a paisley silk velvet that is pure opulence, yet hardwearing enough for upholstery, A crochet trim in primary colours, ‘Lorand’, completes the collection.
