Home to 120 showrooms and over 600 of the world’s most prestigious luxury brands, the Design Centre has long fostered a community that is exceptionally dynamic and collaborative. Porta Romana’s recent collaboration with Colefax and Fowler – its near-neighbour – shows the creative benefits of partnerships between showrooms.
Porta Romana has produced a fresh and vibrant new collection that brings versatility to its lighting while reducing waste. Trademark lamp bases have been reinvented with lively glazes and glass colours, then paired with shades made from Colefax and Fowler fabric off-cuts.
“Using vibrant colours that are coupled with a selection of floral fabrics from Colefax and Fowler, we have tried to change perceptions of how and where to use them – extending their versatility and bringing a freshness to carry us into the long days of an English summer,” says Porta Romana’s creative director Andrew Hills.
From ‘Yatton’ stripes and the small-scale geometric ‘Arlette’ to stunning florals in summery hues, the fabrics chosen for the shades pair perfectly with the bases, breathing new life into the designs while delivering the satisfaction that nothing has gone to waste.
