In Praise of Peggy

Part of the same artistic circle as Eric Ravilious, Edward Bawden and Enid Marx, painter and designer Peggy Angus has a distinctive style that has been rediscovered in recent years. Her role as a teacher also made her an influential force in 20th-century design, beyond her own work. Blithfield has added to its wallcoverings and fabrics featuring her lino-print designs, as part of its Spencer collection: ‘Circles’, ‘Circles & Squares’ (pictured top) and ‘Small Medallion’. The collection is complemented with further fabrics in the spirit of Angus’s work, including ‘Kirby’ (pictured bottom), which can be viewed in all its green glory upholstering the banquettes at Focus/18’s Third Floor Food Market. All the designs are printed on 100% Irish linen and come in an array of vibrant colours; they’re available from Lewis & Wood.
