A Passion for Design Talent

Patrizia Moroso, creative director of Moroso, is a nurturer of design talent and well known for her close collaborations with architects, artists and designers. She has a passionate interest in all forms of art and experiments with hand-crafting, technology and diverse materials to create a collection of iconic designs that reflect different latitudes and local cultures.

“I am attracted by talent; I go weak in front of talent,” she said to Livingetc editor Suzanne Imre during their Conversations in Design talk at Focus/16. She was particularly effusive about the work of Toord Boontje, whose early work she saw in a magazine before inviting him to design for Moroso. One of the fruits of their long collaboration, the ‘Shadowy’ chair, can be seen in the Chaplins showroom, alongside pieces from Setting the Elegance, a collection that gave well-loved existing designs a different visual spin by covering them in unusual fabrics, including those from Rubelli.
