From bathroom taps to hardware, light-switches to electrical braid, what was once available in a limited palette of colours now increasingly comes in a choice of vivid hues – perfect both for all-out-maximalist interiors or simply for adding an accent colour to a more pared-back scheme.
The latest to join the bright brigade is McKinney & Co, available at Collier Webb. The curtain pole and finial specialist has long been known for its imaginative approach, with finials in coloured glass, naturalistic forms such as leaves and pineapples, and intricate classical designs. With its new London collection, the colour runs right through every product, with poles, finials, rings and brackets in a selection of six colours, each inspired by a different area of the capital. ‘Richmond’ is a leafy green that reflects the rural nature of the neighbourhood, ‘Barbican’ is an architectural dark green, while ‘Oxford Circus’ is a bright coral.
What’s more, the collection can be made in bespoke sizes and in any RAL colour – so you can create your own highly individual take on your own neighbourhood.
