Lincrusta Trellis wallcovering

Lincrusta Trellis wallcoveringIt happens rarely, so it’s something to celebrate when Lincrusta adds a new design – and ‘Trellis’, released in time for London Design Week 2023, beautifully fits in with the rest of its portfolio. In Lincrusta’s signature embossed finish and made in the same way since Frederick Walton invented Lincrusta in 1877, the pattern is inspired by the chinoiserie furniture of 18th-century greats such as Chippendale and Hepplewhite – think glazed cabinets where the pattern is intricately picked out in glass and mahogany.

Its traditional roots don’t mean that ‘Trellis’ can’t fit in with contemporary interiors, however, since its simple graphic pattern is highly versatile, and a myriad of paint finishes can change its character entirely. The showroom is hosting an event during London Design Week 2023 (Tuesday 14 March, 2.30pm) exploring the creation of contemporary imagery for heritage brands (such as the one pictured above), with Lincrusta’s Alison Keane and creative director Amy Heffernan, in collaboration with Mylands paints.
