Livingetc Style Awards Winners

Homes magazine and website Livingetc launched its own Style Awards in 2021, and products from the Design Centre’s showrooms were bestowed with an array of prizes at the inaugural event.

“The way we decided to judge things was: how does it make us feel? We found that everything we awarded was able to put a smile on our faces,” said editor Pip McCormack, unveiling the winners online. Livingetc is known for embracing an exuberant modern decorating style, and the winners reflect this: Julian Chichester’s sinuous ‘Medusa’ light in vibrant red faux gesso, loosely inspired by the work of French 20th-century design hero Jean Royère, picked up Best Wall Light, while Samuel & Sons’ playful ‘Menagerie’ leopard trim won in the Trimmings category.

In textiles, Manuel Canovas’ bold and bright ‘Bengale’ fabric, available from Colefax and Fowler, was a winner, alongside Camengo’s Gaia collection made from recycled plastic bottles, available from Colony.

Zoffany’s ‘True Matt’ paint picked up Best Paint Collection for its beautiful finish as well as its inviting colour range, while Perrin & Rowe’s ‘Armstrong’ tap (available from House of Rohl) stood out for its industrial-inspired design as well as its craftsmanship.

Elsewhere, furniture with timeless appeal hit the mark, such as Porada’s ‘Ekero’ side table. “It’s so beautiful, smooth and elegant – I could just see it being around forever,” said McCormack.
