Design Centre Stories

Desert Beauty

The canyons and plateaus of Spain’s Bardenas Reales desert inspired the latest Larsen collection, available from Colefax and Fowler. From strong geometrics such as ‘Daloa’ (pictured above, on daybed) to the irregularly textured ‘Sahara’ (pictured below left, on stool), the region’s sculptural rock formations and arid beauty have been translated into highly tactile fabrics, irregular weaves and embellished sheers.

Warm tonal shades of sand and stone also reflect the desert aesthetic. The collection’s wools stay true to the favoured shades of clay, olive green and rich chocolate that the company’s founder, legendary US designer Jack Lenor Larsen, typically used in the sixties and seventies, while a plain wool satin, ‘Harvard’ (pictured uppermost on cushion stack, above centre) introduces stronger colours such as golden yellow and deep orange.

Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour remains in support of all its showrooms, despite their closure during this time. Until restrictions are lifted, please contact each showroom directly for more information, or ask for help from the Design Centre’s Personal Shopping or Designer Sourcing Service.
