Design Centre Stories

Need to Know

Sharing knowledge is a key part of Focus/17. This year KLC School of Design is back, sharing its expertise and discussing hot topics, from lighting design to how to create a layered, sensual home. “Design is constantly changing and developing, and to keep an edge, designers need to keep up to date with trends and find new sources of inspiration,” says Jenny Gibbs, the school’s principal. For non-professional designers who visit the show, “the talks and workshops provide a wonderful way to learn more about interior design and to get ideas for their own projects.”

KLC is based at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, and Jenny says that there is a symbiotic relationship between the showrooms and the school’s staff and students.”The showrooms help us inspire and inform our students as they learn interior design and research products, materials and technologies. In turn, once students start their internships at a multitude of design agencies we work closely with, they begin to draw on their knowledge of the Design Centre when they contribute to new projects – and this continues once they graduate.”
