Rugs with Purpose

Cementing Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour’s reputation as the home of the very best interiors brands, Jennifer Manners Design has opened a showroom in the Centre Dome. Specialising in exquisite hand-made rugs, Jennifer Manners counts some of the world’s most influential interior designers as clients. Her studio works alongside gifted artisans and crafters in Nepal, India, Morocco and Uzbekistan, either on her own collections or bespoke creations. She also occasionally teams up with other designers: Tom Faulkner’s strongly graphic ‘Odessa’ design is a reworking of one of Faulkner’s furniture pieces, while Salvesen Graham’s ‘Scallop’ rug (above right) has become a best-seller, and is soon to be followed by an indoor/outdoor version.

The studio is committed to sustainable design: look out for its /re/Purpose collection, made from hardwearing – yet satisfyingly plush – recycled plastic bottles. Pictured above centre is ‘Malibu’, one of five designs in the collection.
