On the Grid

This ‘Poleng’ fabric by Raoul Textiles (available from Turnell & Gigon) has a simple premise – it’s a satisfyingly oversized checked linen with a folk-art feel – yet it seems to have captured the imagination of interiors editors. That includes The World of Interiors, which has named the design as the overall winner of its Showstopper award at Focus/20.

It’s recently become available in a new palette, including the sulphur and lavender colours pictured. Raoul Textiles, based in Santa Barbara, California, creates all its own dyes, so these colours are exclusive to the brand. The company is known for bright hues and a bold approach to colour and scale, so ‘Poleng’ fits right in.

As well as this overall winner, The World of Interiors also named three runners-up in the awards: ‘Marla’ fabric by Jane Churchill at Colefax and Fowler; ‘Shalvar’ wallpaper by Iksel – Decorative Arts; and the ‘Jet’ trolley by Porada.
