Bobbin Along

Bobbin furniture has its origins in the late 17th-century: legs and other details were turned on a lathe to emulate the look of a bobbin or spool. This simple, rustic ornamentation has stood the test of time, seemingly able to crossing the boundary between traditional and contemporary interiors.

Julian Chichester’s Bobbin collection is one of one of its best loved, and it has recently expanded to include a console and bedside table. The oak console pictured features cast brass discs and a low brass lip around the top shelf: balancing beauty with practicality, the lip has corner cut-outs for running a lamp wire.

The new pieces complement the products in the existing collection, which include several chair styles, a bed and a bench.
