Design Centre Stories

Everyday Nomadism

There are always new cultures and regions to explore via the medium of design, and the vogue for all-embracing interiors that take their inspiration from every corner of the world shows no sign of slowing down. There is a sense of freedom in playing around with traditional motifs – as Pierre Frey says about its latest, New-World-inspired collections, “this tribute is meant to be eclectic, weaving together fantasy and reality” It’s about creating a new narrative via unusual colour combinations, playing with scale or paring down shapes to their simplest.

Pictured (top to bottom) are ‘Fez’ border, Martyn Lawrence Bullard at Cole & Son; ‘China’ pendant, Magic Circus Editions at Poliform; ‘Nellcote’ fabric by Schuyler Samperton at Tissus d’Hélène; ‘Bora’ fabric, Harlequin at Style Library; and ‘Tutti Frutti’ (on curtain) and ‘Cochiti’ (on chair) fabrics from Pierre Frey.
