Design Centre Stories

Design the Rainbow

The Design Avenue has been transformed into a blaze of colour – and a message of thank you – with a rainbow-themed installation that celebrates the moment when the sun breaks through the clouds.

As a symbol of peace and hope, the rainbow has taken on a greater significance in 2020 as an emblem of thanks to NHS and other frontline staff in the face of coronavirus. The Design the Rainbow installation is an expression of gratitude on a giant scale, and it also recognises the design community for the way it has come together over the past few months.

The installation is not only intended to be uplifting, but to illustrate the very best that the showrooms have to offer. Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour has something not just for every colour scheme but for every mood, every room and every person: it’s the full spectrum.

In the Centre Dome, read stories about how the showrooms have been helping the cause, from pivoting their production to make PPE to fundraising auctions and donating products for initiatives such as Design Havens for Heroes. Over the past few weeks, Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour has been acting as a hub for the emergency services, used as a meeting point, food and watering station and a place to take a break while patrolling the area, and key workers’ messages of appreciation have also been put on display.
