Elegant Form, Everyday Function

Sophie Paterson’s latest collaboration with Loom Furniture is refined yet practical

In her trademark understated luxe style, interior designer Sophie Paterson has launched a second collection of furniture in collaboration with Design Centre showroom Loom Furniture. Elegant silhouettes and unexpected details hit the mark – but beyond the aesthetics, there is an accompanying thread of functionality, with thoughtful understanding of homeowners’ practical needs.

The ‘Clasp’ wall console (above right) follows a design language that also appeared in Paterson’s first collection, with its fluted metal clasp at the junction of its metal frame and stone top (like all Loom’s pieces, materials and finishes are customisable from a selection). The designer wanted to create something that was as useful as it was beautiful: “In smaller spaces, a console that floats off the floor keeps the hallway open and airy while giving you enough surface for keys, a vase or a candle,” she says. The ‘Gallery Ledge’ shelf (above left) is equally practical, with a deep metal frame and timber lip at the front, useful for books, photographs and accessories.

A stylish drinks trolley with fluted legs (above centre) is also among the new pieces, along with the ‘Reed’ dressing table (below left) and bedside table, which both feature fluted fronts.

All of Loom’s furniture is made in the UK, resulting in beautifully tailored and crafted pieces. A recent move within the Design Centre to a larger showroom has allowed the brand to show even more of its portfolio in person – so everyone can appreciate that craftsmanship up close.
