FISTRAL BEACH HOTEL, CORNWALL
Cornwall is both a holiday hot-spot and the home of designer Tom Raffield, whose eponymous brand recently opened a showroom at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour. It’s fitting, then, that his work turns up at the Fistral Beach Hotel in Newquay, which has incredible ocean views and interior design that is a contemporary take on laid-back beach living: perfect for Raffield’s natural timber products. In the Bay Bar (pictured), you’ll find ‘Skipper’ pendants and ‘Harlyn’ mirrors, and the company also made the bespoke timber wall cladding.
HOTEL BYBLOS, ST TROPEZ
French designer Laura Gonzalez recently renovated four suites at one of the Côte d’Azur’s bastions of five-star luxury, Hotel Byblos. The Med’s sunny disposition is infused throughout Gonzalez’s interiors, with the suites intended to have the feel of a family home. The designer’s signature bold mix of print and pattern is everywhere, including the 100% wool ‘Missoni Baldacci’ rug, from Stark Carpet – part of the brand’s collaboration with Italian brand Missoni – pictured above in one of the suites.
Gonzalez also incorporated fabrics, from Holland & Sherry, Pierre Frey, Dedar, and Colefax and Fowler, and trimmings from Samuel & Sons.
VILLA ZYLOH, BALI
This villa is the home of Australian rules football player Chad Fletcher and influencer/model, Nathalya Cabral, with the latter taking the lead on the interior design, creating paradise in a palette of white and wood. The four properties on site are all available to rent: the two bedroom apartment pictured includes a breezy outdoor dining and kitchen area – where we spy ABI Interiors’ ‘Elysian’ kitchen mixer tap in matte black.
THE HOXTON, ROME
Sightseeing in Rome can get heated – so cool off after a long day bumping elbows with fellow tourists at The Vatican with a splash around in the bathrooms at The Hoxton, Rome, which feature brassware from Perrin & Rowe’s Traditional collection (available from House of Rohl). Designers Ennismore wanted to bring a flavour of mid-century Italian design to the interiors, with polished brass taps standing out against a palette of blue, off-white and black tiles.
HOTEL KUNG KARL, STOCKHOLM
William Morris’ style may be intrinsically linked with the English Arts & Crafts movement, but it has found fans all over the world. In the centre of Stockholm, Hotel Kung Carl has embraced Morris & Co. with gusto: the bar stools lining the pink marble bar are upholstered in ‘The Brook’ velvet, which was originally inspired by medieval tapestries; the classic ‘Strawberry Thief’ upholsters the chairs in the in the lobby; and ‘Larkspur’ wallcoverings (and many more) have been used in the guest rooms.
CHURCHILL SUITE, RAFFLES LONDON AT THE OWO
At Raffles London at the OWO, the Churchill Suite epitomises historic elegance blended seamlessly with 21st-century sophistication. Crafted by the visionary late Thierry Despont, the suite features exquisite ‘Zarzozi Bargello’ flame-stitched chenille sofas and chairs from Watts 1874, alongside Watts’ luxurious ‘Versailles’ cut velvet adorning the walls. The Raffles hotel includes many suites with similar historic significance, each uniquely designed to merge London’s rich heritage with modern innovation.
VENICE SIMPLON-ORIENT-EXPRESS – A BELMOND TRAIN
What better way to travel across Europe then aboard the world’s most iconic train, Belmond’s Orient Express? Enjoy the luxury service and the unforgettable experience of its renovated suites. This rail journey follows classic routes between Paris and Venice while showcasing some exquisitely crafted interiors by Wimberly Interiors, including bespoke fabrics by Rubelli. The suites take design inspiration from the passing views en route: La Campagne (the countryside), Les Montagnes (the mountains), Les Lacs (the lakes), and La Forêt (the forest).
LE BRISTOL HOTEL, PARIS
Journey to the heart of Paris where Le Bristol Hotel redefines French chic through a collaboration with US fabric house Schumacher and interior designer Marie-Caroline Willms of the Marbella-based EMCI Design Studio. The hotel’s elegant French-style courtyard garden is elevated by the iconic ‘Royal Poppy Stripe’ fabric draped at its entrance. Further fabrics have been used in the garden itself, a paradise in the city that creates a truly restorative experience for guests.
