Scandinavia has an incredible decorative arts heritage, with a persuasive blend of form, function and folklorific decorative detail that has enduring popularity. Jennifer Manners Design has channelled these influences for Scandi, a rug collection that journeys across the region and pays homage to the rural artisans who passed their skills down through the centuries.

We start in Sweden, where ‘Stockholm’ (above left) features graphic motifs from nature, typical of traditional hand-painted walls or furniture; while ‘Tulpan’ (above right) is a pretty repeat pattern of tulips. ‘Oslo’ (below left) is a chunky crochet (think warm Norwegian knitwear) and the cosy comfort of ‘Copenhagen’ (pictured top) channels hygge with its playful tassels. Finally, in a fresh green, ‘Svagga’ (below right) takes its design cues from the swagged garlands of fruit and fir that are traditionally hung across doors and windows.

‘Stockholm’ and ‘Tulpan’ come in New Zealand wool, with a further option of Jennifer Manners Design’s /Re/purpose performance yarns, made from recycled water bottles; while ‘Oslo’, ‘Copenhagen’ and ‘Svagga’ all use /Re/purpose as standard. Sizes range from 1.8mx2.4m up to 3x4m, with custom sizes also available.
