Originally founded in 1800 as a naval outfitter in Portsmouth Harbour, Tillys Interiors has evolved into a leading supplier of hardware for high-end window treatments. Its portfolio offers a wide selection of styles, from classic hardwood and metal poles and finials to chic rods for café curtains and contemporary concealed tracks for flush installation.
Tillys is a longstanding name in the address books of leading interior designers (you may recognise its work from many of the rooms at WOW!house), and now it has a permanent showroom on the Fifth Floor of Design Centre East. Here, the showroom’s Callum Reynolds explains why you should visit.

It’s a place to display our products in central London – somewhere that is an international destination for interior designers.
There are working roomsets to showcase all the different ways that our products can be incorporated into design schemes. There’s also an extensive sample collection: all of our finishing is done in-house, so those finishes are exclusive to us.
Due to our hand-finishing process, it’s important for clients to actually touch and handle the products to understand the quality of what we produce.
We like to think that we’re very responsive to designers’ needs. With such a breadth of experience, we also really understand all of the ways that window hardware can work around the architecture of a room: if there’s a tricky cornice detail, we know exactly what kind of bracket to use to get around it. We always say, each window is unique, and we make the individual hardware to reflect that uniqueness – with no compromises.
Our Classic collection is the backbone of our brand due to its timeless appeal, beautiful designs and extremely high-quality materials. The collection is modular, with various poles – from single and double, to poles suitable for bay windows or with an integrated track – plus brackets, end caps and finials, rings and other finishing touches. I would say that 80% of our orders are based on the Classic collection.
The majority of our new products have their roots in something that a designer has asked us to make. We also keep a close eye on design trends in order to be able to offer what designers are asking for: for example, we have recently started to include more bespoke woodwork and metal leaf wrapping in our products.

There are a lot – one that comes to mind is a bespoke bed frame for a client in the US. We had never made one before, but the designer asked us to do it – and since it used the same methods we’ve honed for our bespoke window hardware, it was completely within our skillset.
Some of our clients include Max Rollitt, Peter Mikic, Albion Nord and Christian Bense. Our work has found a wider audience through being used at WOW!house.
We incorporate CNC machining, hand forging, wood carving, glass blowing, fabric wrapping, brazing and hand finishing, to name a few of the skills we include.
It’s important to us that we make all our products in the UK. That way, we have much greater control over how things are made, and we can keep a stricter eye on the environmental impact of our products.
We have a lot of heritage, but that doesn’t mean we’re stuck in the past. The leadership group of Tillys is still young, and that makes us optimistic, dynamic and excited for the future of high-end interior design!
