Mallorca’s Mountains and Beaches Inspire Jacaranda’s Balearic Collection
Artist Jan Erika has collaborated with Jacaranda Carpets and Rugs on a new capsule collection that was inspired by the Mallorcan landscape. Bealearic features four rugs that each has a connection with a distinctive location: ‘Valldemossa Verde’ (below left), for example, takes its cues from Valldemossa, an historic town in the Tramuntana mountains known for its artisan community; while the rippling lines of ‘Formentor Bellota’ (below right) came from the sun reflecting off the sea in the north of the island, capturing the natural tones of a shingle beach.
Erika is a classically trained concert cellist, and uses her musical skill to inform her painting; those concepts of harmony and rhythm are taken even further with Jacaranda’s expertise, with contrasting textures, artisan carving and varying pile heights creating a totally new dimension.
The rugs are made either from 100% Tencel, or a mix of Tencel and New Zealand wool – however, the yarn composition can be adjusted for individual projects. They can be made-to-measure as both rugs and wall-to-wall carpet, with tailored colour palettes also available. A contract rating makes them suitable for luxury residential and high-end commercial installations.
Visit the showroom, which has recently been given a redesign, giving visitors more space to view large pieces of all the carpets and rugs within Jacaranda’s collections.
