South African brand Ardmore’s Thanda Nests tableware collection (available from Colony at Casa Luiza) will transport you to an exotic garden where wings flutter and outlandishly colourful plants grow. This flora and fauna may seem fantastical to our eyes, but Ardmore’s work is all based around real-life nature – amplified by gorgeous background colours that make every plant and bird sing out.
The collection features tablecloths, runners, napkins and placemats, with a mix-and-match approach that allows you to build an outrageously maximalist tablescape. It depicts masked weaver birds in flight: the yellow and green bird is known for making intricate woven nests, and these are shown, too, in bright stylised colours with eggs peeping out from within. Blooming flowers and a feather-inspired border complete these joyful designs.

Founded in 1985 by Fée Halsted, Ardmore began as a ceramics studio making playful, folklorific pieces inspired by local wildlife, from zebras to monkeys and cheetahs. These highly collectible pieces birthed whole new product ranges that translated the ceramics into two-dimensional illustration, from fabrics (also available from Colony by Casa Luiza) to wallcoverings (available from Cole & Son). The brand celebrates its 40th birthday in 2025 and has chosen an umbrella theme of “taking flight”, so look our for some fine-feathered further launches to come during the remainder of the year.
