Madeaux

Richard Smith’s fabrics and papers blend imagination with the honed craftsmanship of an experienced eye. Following a 30-year career creating designs for leading fabric houses, Richard founded Madeaux in 2011 to run alongside his work designing for Jim Thompson.

From Smith’s East Sussex studio, Madeaux produces fabrics and papers in seasonal collections. Many pieces start life as watercolours on his sketchpad and most are created by hand: from whimsical florals and classic stripes to bold geometrics, each has a sense of playfulness and understated chic.

At the Design Emporium Collective, Madeaux will show its coveted fabrics and papers, alongside designs by the wallpaper collective Dado Atelier.
