Luke Hope
Luke Hope’s work yields both abstract and functional objects. Exquisitely crafted sculptures, created with an intimate appreciation soar far beyond their functional resolve. Each are skilfully carved and shaped from single pieces of wood, using a combination of traditional and modern carving tools and techniques.
Luke’s formative handwork espouses a communication between human action and nature’s temperament. The wooden medium, removed from its natural source, becomes perpetuated in a new, sculptural context, challenging us to interrogate our relationships with familiarity and expectation.
Luke Hope is a 2019 Future Heritage alumnus.
