Kaye June Bonnar

A photograph of her grandmother weaving a basket, and the discovery of an ancestry in self-taught craft, first led Kaye Bonnar to create a series of basketry pieces. She uses basketry as a vessel for artistic expression through intuitive making, material and colour choices.
Using found materials collected from the coast of Fife in Scotland, alongside everyday discarded items, connects her to her heritage; by carrying on the craft of basketry, she is honouring her ancestors and the land she comes from.

Kaye Bonnar is exhibiting as part of Future Heritage.
