Soie de Lune – Heritage Silk Jacquard Hand-weaving
Daniel Marcus, the owner of Laos-based textile company Soie de Lune discusses the importance of artisan work in contemporary Lao society. Through the company’s work to maintain the traditions of silk weaving in Laos, he discovered a deep-rooted spiritual meaning to the cloth and became aware that this is the only artistic patrimony of the country.

Moroccan Decorative Painting with Natasha Mann
QEST Radcliffe Trust Scholar Natasha Mann will paint an original geometric design on a Vaughan lampshade using handmade paints of egg tempera and natural pigments. Natasha specialises in Moroccan decorative painting and creates bespoke artworks and pieces for interiors. The completed lampshade will then be sold for charity.

QEST D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust Scholar Laura Adburgham, will demonstrate shaft weaving on a table loom. Inspired by intricate structures and irregular details found within the natural world, Laura designs and creates fabrics for fashion and interior design using natural yarns like linen, wool and silk.

Kate Pankhurst is studying hand embroidery on the prestigious Future Tutors course at the Royal School of Needlework, Hampton Court Palace, supported by a QEST D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust Scholarship. She will demonstrate stitching Coronation goldwork in a hoop and seat frame using specialist gold materials, waxed threads and needles.
